Abstract
Staphylococci were isolated from clinical materials upon 2%- Lipovitellenin-Salt-Mannitol agar (LSM) which composed of 2% egg yolk, 10% NaCl and 1.0% mannitol. Production of yellowish opaque zone around colonial growth was indicated positive evidence of lipovitellenin lipase activity. Among the 97 strains of isolated staphylococci from 212 clinics specimens, 38 strains were coagulase positive and 34 strains(83.5%) of the coagulase positive strains were lipovitellenin lipase positive.
Therefore 2%-LSM agar seems to be a reliable medium for the primary isolation of pathogenic staphylococci from clinical specimens.
